SUPER – E™ comes in capsule form, which totally eliminates the need for potentially allergenic tablet making ingredients called excipients. It combines the best sources of similar acting vitamin, mineral and herbal products. It not only supplies 300 I.U. (100% USRDA) of natural source vitamin E, but also ingredients believed to have similar antioxidant properties. These include selenium derived from the costly yeast-free amino acid chelate, called selenomethionine, as well as the more expensive water-soluble potassium ascorbate vitamin C.  Numerous researchers believe that these antioxidants like selenium, the amino acid methionine and potassium ascorbate, may work synergistically (in harmony) with vitamin E.  The use of such anti-oxidants is believed by some authorities to help protect the body from premature aging.


SUPER – E™ contains Vitamin E, Vitamin C, Selenium, Potassium-Ascorbate, Hawthorn Berry, Ordorless Garlic, Pipsissewa,Chinese Cinnamon and Cloves. Now let's look at these ingredients in detail!


VITAMIN E (d-alpha tocopheryl acetate) is a protective nutrient. It is necessary to help protect dietary fats and oils from becoming rancid and causing what some researchers believe can result in premature aging or wrinkling of the skin, as well as several degenerative diseases. In fact, it is theorized that the highly unstable polyunsaturated fatty acids heavily consumed in the Western diet, increase the need for vitamin E and other anti-oxidants to protect the body's cells and tissues from free radical damage. Among other causes, destructive free radicals form when food is burned within our system. Free radicals compare to the sparks which escape from a fireplace, damaging the carpet (our cells). The antioxidants may be compared to the fireplace screen which PROTECTS the carpet from “sparks” (free radicals).  The better the “screen” (antioxidants) the less cellular and tissue damage suffered. The free radical theory has recently been associated with longevity studies, or the slowing down of the aging process through the control of destructive free radical damage.


Other uses of vitamin E may include the protection of red blood cells from damage, the formation of a part of the blood called heme, and the receiving and use of oxygen more efficiently.  Vitamin E is also thought to aid normal reproduction by preventing the destruction of certain sex hormones. Vitamin E has recently been proven to control the oxidation of LDL and lower the heart disease risk factor.  VITAMIN C (potassium ascorbate) is a highly soluble anti-oxidant useful in preventing free radical damage. Unlike harsh ascorbic acid vitamin C, this form of vitamin C is pleasantly non-acid. Furthermore, it is the only form of vitamin C that is able to supply potassium into the cell. Potassium ascorbate is one of the most water soluble forms of vitamin C. It is known to have the fastest possible absorption and those on a high sodium diet may wish to add more potassium to their diet by taking potassium ascorbate.


SELENIUM is known as vitamin E's helper and is another powerful anti-oxidant. Selenium forms part of one of the body's main protective anti-oxidant enzymes, glutathione peroxidase.  It is believed that this enzyme helps prevent mutation in our DNA (genetic blueprint material).  Selenium deficiency may also cause muscle degeneration in animals.  Most supplements use selenium derived from yeast. However, many people have yeast related allergies or intolerances, so we feel that this is not a good source of this important nutrient.  One of the best, but most expensive selenium sources is when it is chelated or bound to the amino acid methionine. SUPER – E™ supplies selenium in this useful form, rather than the allergenic yeast form or the highly toxic inorganic sodium selenite form.

POTASSIUM-ASCORBATE is the naturalized source of potassium isolated from vitamin C and is provided in this formula as a potassium source that does not cause stomach upset. It should be noted that high amounts of potassium should not be taken in a supplement. The potassium in SUPER – E™ is water soluble and does not cause toxicity.

HAWTHORNBERRY (Crataegus monogyna Jacq) The regular use of Hawthorn berry extract strengthens the heart muscles. Since the 19th century Hawthorn leaves and berries have been prescribed in herbal formulas as a cardiac agent that slows over active hearts and serves as a hypotensive (diminishes blood pressure).

GARLIC EXTRACT (Allium sativum L.) Garlic extract is natures antibiotic and is known for it's ability to dissolve cholesterol, and reduce hypertension.

PIPSISSEWA ( Chimaphila umbellata) Pipsissewa herb is a tonic and mild diuretic with strong antiseptic powers. Pipsissewa became listed in the U.S. Pharmacopeia in 1820 and is still used by many herbalist as an effective remedy for rheumatic conditions.

CHINESE CINNAMON (Cinnamomum cassia) and CLOVES (Caryopyllus aromaticus) were historically believed to have anti-oxidant properties. They were frequently used in herbal formulations to preserve fats and oils from becoming rancid. Additionally, they were regarded as possessing antibiotic and stimulant properties. Stimulants tend to increase the general circulation and help to carry nutrients throughout the cells and tissues.

 

HOW TO RECOGNIZE QUALITY IN VITAMIN E

When choosing a vitamin E supplement you should note that the ester forms of vitamin E, such as d-alpha tocopheryl succinate found in our SUPER – E™ are scientifically recorded as being far more stable than the alcohol forms of vitamin E found in most soft, oil-filled gelatin capsules. The filler oil found in most vitamin E capsules quickly becomes rancid, thereby introducing these harmful peroxidated (rancid) fats into the system. The inclusion of the other mentioned anti-oxidants also help discourage rancidity and stabilize the product.  It is also worth mentioning that there are synthetic or man-made forms of vitamin E being marketed. Such forms are preceded by the initials DL, whereas natural vitamin E is preceded only by the letter D. Natural vitamin E is more potent than synthetic vitamin E and may possibly contain undiscovered co-factors.
